King’s Gambit is a party-loving English folk band, performing original tunes filled to the brim with melody, spirit and banging beats!
Based in Northampton, this seven-piece band has been thumping out its infectious 'FolkBeat’ music throughout the country since 2010, persuading the people of sweet England to dance!
Whilst raising roofs across London, the Midlands and parts of Europe, the gang has also increased its presence on the UK festival circuit, delivering lively sets at Camp Bestival, Small World, Green Gathering, Banbury Folk Festival, Wychwood Festival, Landed Festival, Sidmouth Fringe and Cropredy Fringe. They are very much looking forward to making their debut at Folk on The Pier in Cromer this year.
After four home-recorded albums (Lines and verses - 2011, FolkBeat - 2013,
From One To Another - 2016) and a Live album (2018), they are releasing their second studio album The Elder And The Lost Bet this spring.
Their first studio album, Around We Go Again, was released in 2021 and received a heartwarming welcome around festivals and local venues alike.
They received the Acoustic / Country / Folk Artist of the Year Award at the Northamptonshire Local Music Awards 2024.
With a brand new line-up The Elder And The Lost Bet marks a definite return to their ‘FolkBeat’ roots, offering a blend of trad tunes and original songs that combine soulful harmonies, soaring strings, punchy percussions and a driving baseline.
